Hello all - well, I hope that there is gonna be an "all" some day :D
This is my first blog entry and I would like to share the story behind this blog with you.
I have always like food and baking but since maybe 2 years I would really consider baking a hobby and during the last year it has become a passion. I love cupcakes and will be posting mostly cupcake recipes but also some other cakes or desserts and the occasional savoury recipe.
It all started on my 22nd birthday which I celebrated in New Zealand. One present was a cupcake which I got from my new zealand sister. I have never had a cupcake before and I was basically blown away by this little cake.
I don't really recall what happened afterwards. I just know that I started to buy different books and googled different recipes and started baking and soon the little cupcakes became well know among friends and family. My new zealand sister has probably been my biggest inspiration as she has made the "cupcake" her profession now. I envy her for doing so :D
So that is the story behind the baking but why should I start a blog about cakes as there are tons of other baking blogs out there?!
I take pictures of my "creation" and post them on my facebook page and I decided I would like to share the recipes as well and the stories behind the process of making them. I also read a book called "Meet me at the Cupcake Cafe" written by Jenny Colgan which includes different recipes I wanted to try. And another reason for this blog is my urge to take the baking a step further. I have this idea in my head of opening a little café serving little goodies to people. Offering them a haven to linger, relax and enjoy some lovely sweet and savoury creations. As I'm still a student this will stay a fantasy I can daydream about for a while. So this is my way of trying to make a step towards my dream :)
So I will be trying all the recipes from Jenny Colgan's book and of course loads of other recipes and share my personal experience and opinion about them with you.
I hope you will enjoy the cupcakes as much as I do. I'm sorry that just some of you get to be my guinea pigs...
